Christian Formosa and Marie Claire Aquilina win the first Road Race of 2016
The Malta Cycling Federation road race national championship started on Sunday, 7 May with the race held in San Martin. The Cyclist CC had great results as Christian Formosa won the Elite category; Nicholas Attard Montaldo won the Juniors Category, while Richard Hill and Steven Andrew Bell won respectively the Masters 40+ u 50+. Marie Claire Aquilina (Team Greens) won the Female Category.
The Formosa brothers rocked the elite category to finish 1st and 3rd respectively. Christian Formosa completed the seven laps in 1:43:06:01. Marco Fiorilla (Pro Action All Stars) was second in 1:45:03.24, while Maurice Formosa of the same The Cyclists team came third in 1:45:03.38.
The female category was dominated by cyclists from Team Greens with Marie Claire Aquilina winning the first place in 1:23:09, with a little margin of 00:00:27 ahead of team mate Michelle Vella Wood. Stephanie Alden (The Cyclists) ended third with a gap of 00: 12.30.
After the race, medals were distributed to the winners in the various Age Group categories. The next race will be the first of the Time Trial National Championship and will be held on Sunday, 21 May at Mriehel By-pass. Elite 1. Christian Formosa - The Cyclist 2.
