More learning support for MCAST students
MCAST is strengthening its learning support for its students through the Erasmus+ Project entitled 3Es for Youths in VET: Engagement, Empowerment & Employability.
The College has partnered up with four other international institutions who share the same vision, namely Havering College for Further and Higher Education (England), Friesland College (Holland), Aademie für berufliche Bildung gGmbH (Germany) and Forth Valley College (Scotland).
This project originated from a team of educators within the MCAST’s Learning Support Unit. After a number of years of experi- ence working with students from different backgrounds, the educators collectively identified a growing need for the provision of more student support on a number of levels.
Students need more than academic content – they actually urge for their basic needs to be satisfied first. This is what the partners on the project aim to do by providing a positive educational experience to students who would otherwise risk staying away from education or dropping out.
MCAST is partnering with partner institutions and sharing knowledge and experience, while exchanging best practices in key areas of pastoral care, communication, teaching and assessment methods. All identified outputs focus on the enhancement of the students’ support sector with the intention to enhance engagement, empowerment and eventually employment.
The general aims and objectives of this project are to strengthen the learning support offered to youths from diverse realities, within vocational colleges. Through the sharing of good practices, experiences and expertise, programmes and resources will be developed. These will help the support services become more effective for the benefit of all students.
