The EU Green Week
The EU Green Week, the biggest annual event focusing on EU environmental policy, will start next Monday 29 May.
EU Green Week is an annual opportunity to debate and discuss European environmental policy. Organised by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Environment, this key event in the environment policy calendar attracts policymakers, leading environmentalists, stakeholders and other interested parties from across Europe and the globe.
EU Green Week 2017 takes place from 29 May to 2 June with the theme of 'Green jobs for a greener future'. It will focus on how EU environmental policies are creating green jobs and contributing to economic, sustainable and socially responsible growth in the EU. In addition to a high level conference in Brussels, the programme will also feature a series of partner events and actions taking place across Europe.
This year, the EU Green Week will focus on ‘Green jobs for a greener future’ while exploring potential job opportunities in the emerging circular economy.
The EU Green Week will be launched on Monday in Malta with the presence of Karmenu Vella, Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and José Herrera, Minister for Sustainable Development, the Environment and Climate Change.
On the occasion, a series of success stories of companies active in green business and generating green employment were also produced.
One of the success stories puts a spotlight on a Maltese company Water Services Corporation that succeeds in treating all the Maltese wastewater and turning Malta into the first Mediterranean country to treat all the wastewater.
