Rodren Vella and Bernard Galea racing at Brands Hatch Indy circuit

-

Rodren Vella and Bernard Galea have formed a team to race in the Cartek Roadsports Series promoted by the 750 Motor Club of the United Kingdom, with Rodren’s Honda Civic 1,998 cc racing car.

Their first race takes place on Saturday at the popular Brands Hatch Indy circuit, with a 25 minute qualifying session at 11.15 in the morning, and the 45 minute plus 1 lap race at 4.15 in the afternoon.

The race will have a compulsory pit stop during which Rodren and Bernard will change places, so that each one of them will race for practically half the distance.

Other drivers may race for the whole distance with their cars, while teams of two drivers may drive two separate cars in a relay formation.

Rodren and Bernard have successfully raced against each other in the Civic Cup in 2015, and this will be the first time that they will be participating in an endurance race as a team.

Rodren shipped his car to Malta last year to update it to Roadsports specifications, and he shipped it back to the UK earlier this year.

Rodren and Bernard were planning to compete in the Supersport class for 200bhp/tonne cars, but the Final Instructions of the event list car number 89 of the Maltese team in the GT class for 250bhp/tonne class.

Rodren and Bernard will need to discuss this issue with the organisers during the week.

On Thursday, they have booked a test session, and they are eager to do their best on Saturday.

The 1.208 mile Indy circuit at Brands Hatch is a very interesting circuit, including Druids Hairpin and sweeping curve Clearways. Paddock Hill Bend is a very difficult corner because it is blind while it goes downhill.

There is no doubt that Rodren and Bernard are going to enjoy themselves at Brands Hatch, and hopefully get a reasonably good result.

All Maltese motorsport followers will be supporting Rodren and Bernard, and some will be following live timing through the website 750mc.co.uk or the brandshatch.co.uk website, if it will be made available.
