Grow your idea and make it happen

Do you have a concept worth financing? Would you like to advise businesses? The M.Ent. course at the University of Malta embodies over 20 years of experience in mentorship of startups and was designed by the University of Malta in conjunction with the technologytransfer unit of Oxford University to empower individuals to achieve these goals.

The University of Malta is accepting applications from individuals to follow this postgraduate programme leading to the award of Master in Knowledge-Based Entrepreneurship (M.Ent). This course was designed for graduates in fulltime employment.

Taught material is delivered in just four intensive weeks augmented by additional practical assignments and material linked to practical business scenarios. Mentorship is key to the course.

A project allows students to develop a feasibility study on a business of their choice, which leads to a final project consisting of a detailed business plan and funding presentation. This hands-on approach has now been successfully applied in the real world by nearly 100 alumni of this programme.

Financiers and Malta Enterprise have been impressed by the quality of the business proposals of M.Ent. graduates. Past students have include soldiers, business directors, academics and lawyers.

“Reflecting back [...] I ponder how my business survived the years prior to taking the M.Ent. My outlook now is totally different. Immediately as a new idea or opportunity crops up, a complex set of processes are fired up and analysis triggered. Post M.Ent, the risks I now expose my business to are much more calculated,” said E-Business Systems ( AllSecure Ltd.) Director Carmelo Romano.

With this course applicants will be mentored to attract their own funding. The course is strategically placed in the TAKEOFF Business Incubator, which means that students are studying in the same space which can house their business down the line. Mentorship will be provided to help attract the finances needed to incubate, accelerate and catapult their idea into a successful business.

The university will accept online applications on www.um.edu.mt/apply until 21 July. For further information: www.um.edu.mt/cebi | cebi@um.edu.mt | +356 2340 3780

Students can apply separately under the Malta Enterprise ’Get Qualified' scheme for tax rebates of up to 70% of the course fees.
