Dark Tales of the Citadel

-

The mystery of the golden calf, the death of the cotton merchant killed by whiplashes, the despair of Bernardo De Opuo for putting his wife’s and two daughters’ life to a sudden and premature end and the imprisonment of Jean Parisot de Valette in the prison of the old and obsolete Castello are among the stories which will be animated during the eerie event, Dark Tales of the Citadel.

Following the success of the Dark Tales series, Heritage Malta will be organising the fourth animated tour based on tales of mystery, legend and the supernatural. This time the Citadel in Victoria Gozo will take centre stage, since the gem of the sister island also has a number of mysteries, legends and dark tales entwined within its magnificent history.

Dark Tales of the Citadel includes also a guided tour by historians Dr George Azzopardi and Godwin Vella. The tour will be animated by well known actors who will relate tales of the eerie Citadel and its surroundings.

The event will be held tomorrow, 30 June at 8pm. Afterwards refreshments will be served from a terrace overlooking Victoria. To ensure that participants enjoy this eerie night at the Citadel, only a limited number of tickets are available. Participants must be 16 years or over.

Tickets can be bought online from shop.heritagemalta.org or from all Heritage Malta sites and museums, for the price of €17 for adults, €15 for HM members, seniors and students. Tickets include the animated tour, transport from Mġarr to Victoria and back, refreshments and a bonus complimentary guided tour of Ġgantija Temples to be held the day after, on Saturday, 1 July at 10am.

Tickets are available on a firstcome first-served basis and do not include ferry ticket to and from Gozo. Participants who will be using the transport to the Citadel should board the 6.45pm ferry from Ċirkewwa to Gozo (return to Malta ferry leaves at 11.15pm). For further information phone on 2395 4242, 2395 4200 during office hours.
