Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna and Bank of Valletta extend collaboration

-

Bank of Valletta has extended its collaboration agreement with Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna, the heritage trust whose principal objective is to create awareness and to encourage a better understanding of Malta’s cultural heritage.

Charles Azzopardi, Head PR and Marketing at Bank of Valletta met with Mario Farrugia, President of Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna at Notre Dame Gate in Zabbar, the Foundation’s Head Office and one of the Foundation’s sites.

“This year marks the 10th anniversary since BOV and the FWA first entered into this corporate partnership. Over this decade, various key sites, such as Fort Rinella and the Malta at War Museum were transformed from a state of neglect to major touristic and historic attractions on the islands,” explained Charles Azzopardi. “The bank shares the Foundation’s philosophy that creating awareness is at least as important as taking steps to conserve the past, as is evident through the Hands-on-Heritage programme and the Foundation’s drive to reach out to people through its sites and social media channels.”

“Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna relies on the generosity of benefactors to fulfil its mission and continue working towards the preservation of historical sites and artefacts,” said Mr Farrugia. “Bank of Valletta’s support over the years has enabled us to complete a number of projects as well as plan upcoming projects such as the completion of the restoration of Mistra Battery in Mellieha, the opening of the wartime unfinished underground tunnel complex under Valletta, the completion of the War HQ Project in Valletta, the opening of the new Saluting Battery Museum in Castille Place, Valletta and the reconstruction of the mechanical side of Fort Rinella in Kalkara.”
