MUMN presents a donation towards the ITS Students Benevolent Fund

-

The Malta Union of Midwived and Nurses has presented a monetary donation towards the Institute of Tourism Studies Students Benevolent Fund.

The reason for the donation initiated at the end of March, when MUMN hosted the European Nurses Federation meeting main dinner at one of ITS’ teaching restaurants – The Pembroke Suite. The dinner was prepared and hosted by ITS students as part of their learning outcomes and resulted in a success, with positive feedback from all.

Therefore, when MUMN found out about the ITS Students Benevolent Fund, they immediately decided to present a donation as an appreciation for the professional way which the dinner was hosted.

Moreover, MUMN Council has now decided to set up another fund to support the students pertaining to the professions which MUMN represents. MUMN President Maria Cutajar stated "solidarity is one of the features that pertains to unions and MUMN surely applies this concept all year round supporting its members and their families. This time MUMN went beyond in supporting ITS Students. MUMN is really proud in having this opportunity. May other organisations follow MUMN's example."

The ITS Students Benevolent Fund assists students who need monetary assistance during their studies at the Institute of Tourism Studies. The fund assists students in various needed monetary instances which include help for uniform purchasing, flight and accommodation fares for their internship studies and purchasing of books.

ITS Chief Executive Officer, Pierre Fenech stated “The ITS Benevolent Fund helps multiple students financially during their studies. Without it, their only way is to unfortunately drop out and be bound to working without continuing in pursuing their studies.”

Anyone who wishes to give their own donation towards the ITS Students Benevolent Fund may do so, by contacting Jeanise Attard on +356 2379 3278 or jeanise.attard@its.edu.mt.
