In a ceremony held recently at the Corinthia Ballroom in Attard, several Farsons Group employees were awarded as part of the Cause for Applause awards and the All Ideas Matter awards.

The evening was compered by Keith Demicoli and presided over by the chairman of the Farsons Group, Louis A. Farrugia and the Group chief executive, Norman Aquilina, together with the Company secretary and Group HR manager, Antoinette Caruana. The attendees included the nominees in each category of the awards as well as Group management and their guests.

The evening started with the All Ideas Matter awards, the Group’s employee suggestion scheme, where the three best implemented suggestions were presented. This year’s overall winner was Reno Cassar – Technical coordinator in the PET Packaging Hall, with a special award going to Anthony Micallef – manager in the Beer Packaging Facility as the manager who reviewed most suggestions overall.

This was followed by the Cause for Applause awards where four outstanding employees were recognised in four categories: Shine and Sparkle Quality award, Wellness award, Zest award and the overall Cause for Applause award. Thirty-one employees from across the Group were nominated for these awards by their managers.

The winners of each respective category were Williana Blundell – team leader at Pizza Hut Valletta, Steve Sciberras – technician in the Beer Packaging Facility, Felix Magri – Sales representative at Quintano Foods and Reuben Gatt – Process leader in the Beer Packaging Facility.

The Shine and Sparkle Quality award recognises excellence in quality consciousness and practice that is not limited to housekeeping and cleanliness but includes quality service of the highest standards; the Wellness award applauds employees that adopt and promote healthy lifestyles as well as health and safety practices at the workplace while the Zest award applauds outstanding positive attitude and behaviour that fosters healthy, professional relationships with colleagues and clients.

The Cause for Applause award recognises those individuals who are role models of excellence, shown through consistency in attitude, integrity, respect, motivation and dynamism in their daily work life and beyond.

“We truly believe that everyone is a winner and that every single employee contributes to the realization of the Group’s vision and ambitions,” commented Aquilina.

The Cause for Applause awards were launched by the Farsons Group two years ago and are now an annual celebration of its employees.

Caruana added: “We know that our employees continuously strive to adopt the Group’s high ethical values in the way we conduct our business, with each other, with our clients and our stakeholders alike. These awards are a reflection of this belief.”
