Irish restaurant leaves brilliant response to TripAdvisor review about lost glasses

-

An Irish restaurateur broke his own rule about never replying to TripAdvisor reviews after a customer complained about his lost glasses not being returned.

Anthony Gray responded to a reviewer who titled his post “HONESTY NOT DELIVERED” when reviewing the restaurant in Sligo, Ireland.

The Australian customer’s main gripe was that a windbreaker and pair of glasses he left at the Eala Bhan restaurant had not been posted back to him promptly enough.

He wrote: “The food was quite reasonable, however we were extremely disappointed to find that the operator lacked integrity.

“I emailed details of my credit card to cover all costs to return the garment to me. When it did not arrive within a week or so, I reemailed twice with no response.

“Bottom line is, food might be OK, but integrity is seriously lacking.”

Mr Gray responded that running two restaurants during peak holiday season and looking after three children meant he was a “tad busy”.

He said the man’s possessions were on route to Australia, adding: “As far as my honesty is concerned I’m not even going to charge your credit card for the post.

“Furthermore the next time you visit the beautiful Emerald Isle and my county I’ll bring you shopping locally for a new wind breaker as far as I see it's a bit of a crime against fashion.”

He concluded: “Next time you feel like writing a review for a restaurant, try to remember us for our qualities which we provide in the abundance of good locally sourced food, wine [and] atmosphere.”
