Ivan Grech raises over €20,000 for ALS Malta through concert

-

Ivan Grech’s second solo concert held on 18 July in the remarkable setting of Ta’ Liesse, Valletta raised €20,088.38 for ALS Malta. This amount is made up from all the revenue generated from ticket sales as well as donations. The cost of putting up the concert was covered through partners and sponsors.

Grech gave a two-hour show, performing some of Winter Moods’ hits and also cover versions of some of his favourite songs through the years. The audience of around 2,000 people danced and sang through Tainted Love, Dancing In The Dark, Always On My Mind and many more songs, and Winter Moods’ own hits such as My Neverland, Hang On To Your Smile, Days Of My Life, Everlasting and Marigold.

“I am overwhelmed by the response and feedback. It was yet another memorable night. And it is a big satisfaction, that doing what I enjoy has once again helped another cause. Raising over €20,000 for Bjorn’s project for ALS Malta is a big achievement,” said Grech. “I firmly believe in the generosity of my people, who always come together to support when there is need. Thank you to everyone who attended, supported and donated to ALS Malta.”

Grech was joined on stage by international musician Pascal Kravetz for intimate piano session in the middle of the concert and they were both accompanied by La Voix children’s choir for a special rendition of Miss You and Bridge over troubled water.

Ivan was accompanied by Jeremy Micallef and David Cassar Torregiani on guitars, David Ciantar on keyboards, Robert Galea on bass and Raphael Tonna on drums. The backing vocalists were Angela Spiteri, Jackie Pace Delicata and Louisa Frendo Wirth. Talented performer Christabelle opened the night.

“I would like to thank the sponsors who rallied to our support and covered the expenses for such an event. I would also like to thank the numerous entities and authorities who helped us put together this event. It is through their support that we can donate the full ticket proceeds to ALS,” concluded Ivan.
