BOV Prize in Medicine awarded to Dr Jessica Pavia

Dr Jessica Pavia was recently presented with the twelfth edition of the BOV Prize in Medicine – an award instituted by Bank of Valletta and the Department of Medicine at the University of Malta.

The BOV Prize in Medicine is presented to the student who obtains the highest mark in the final qualifying examinatio­n in medicine. This mark is derived from a written paper, a clinical hands-on exam and an exam in essential core competence­s which assesses the students on various skills such as communicat­ion, data analysis and handling an emergency scenario.

Charles Azzopardi, Executive PR & Marketing at Bank of Valletta presented the BOV Prize in Medicine to Dr Pavia in the presence of Prof Stephen Montefort, Head of the Department of Medicine and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Malta.

Congratula­ting Dr Pavia for her achievemen­t, Mr Azzopardi said “This is the twelfth year that Bank of Valletta is presenting the BOV Prize in Medicine to the top per- forming medical student. This prize serves to further motivate all the participan­ts to aim higher in their achievemen­ts and to raise the level of the field of Medicine in our country”.

“An award like the BOV Prize in Medicine motivates the student community to a higher level of commitment and achievemen­t,” corroborat­ed Prof Montefort. “Through this award, it is easier for the teaching body to continue encouragin­g medical students to strive for excellence in their studies”.
