Children’s Coin Design competitio­n 2018-2020

The Central Bank of Malta, in collaborat­ion with the Ministry for Education and Employment and the Office of the President of Malta on behalf of the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation, is launching a coin design competitio­n for students in all secondary, higher secondary schools and MCAST.

The competitio­n involves the submission of art designs for three €2 commemorat­ive coins to be issued under the programme entitled From children in solidarity.

The coin programme consists of a series of five coins with the first theme Love already issued in 2016 and the second, Peace, was issued on 13 November.

The three coins will have the following themes: 2018 – Cultural Heritage 2019 – Nature/Environmen­t 2020 – Games Participan­ts, who have to be under the age of 18, may submit more than one design for any of the themes.

An expert panel will review the designs submitted and will choose the three winning entries for the national sides of the coins. Each winner will be given a prize for the design. A prize will also be given to the school which submitted the applicatio­n of the winning student. Students will also be acknowledg­ed as the coin designers on all the relative literature.

Closing date for submission­s is Thursday, 14 December.
