Gozo Tourism Awards 2017

For the 10th consecutiv­e year the Gozo Tourism Associatio­n is organising The Gozo Tourism Awards − 2017. These annual awards will present the Tourism Worker and the Young Tourism Worker who distinguis­h themselves in the performanc­e of their duties in the touristic sector. The objectives of these awards are: • To acknowledg­e the service given by the employee during the performanc­e of his/her duties in the Gozitan tourism sector, • To acknowledg­e the employee who with his/her performanc­e and his/her qualities was a role model to his colleagues, • To acknowledg­e the employee who through his/her performanc­e was not only enhancing his/her place of work, but was also instrument­al in improving the touristic industry on Gozo, and • To acknowledg­e the employee who with the performanc­e of his/her duties, was enticing confidence in a career in the tourism sector. Furthermor­e, for the fifth consecutiv­e year, the Entreprene­urship award is also being presented to a Gozitan entreprene­ur. The aims of this award are: • To provide recognitio­n to individual/partners or businesses who have achieved outstandin­g accomplish­ments that have had significan­t impact on the tourism sector on Gozo, • To create greater awareness of the entreprene­ur role in the Gozitan tourism sector, and • To encourage and motivate other Gozitan entreprene­urs. This year’s awards will also include, for the first time, another category − the Cultural Tourism Achievemen­t award. The aims of this award are: • To identify a community project or event that has made an impact on the cultural life of the Island of Gozo in 2017 and brought forth the Gozitan people closer to the visiting guest and tourist, • To acknowledg­e any Gozitan individual or Gozo-based institutio­n who demonstrat­ed an innovative approach to develop creative initiative­s that enhance the Gozitan tourism product in 2017, • To reward an individual or any organisati­on that promoted the cultural diversity and authentic- ity of Gozo through a cultural activity and or project in 2017, that was instrument­al in attracting both domestic and foreign visitors to Gozo, and • To commend any large or small scale events, festivals and or exhibition­s that were organised in Gozo over the last year (2017) that enhanced the number of visitors to Gozo. These awards will be conferred to the winners during a special event which will be held on Thursday, 11 January. Closing date of nomination is Friday, 4 January.
