APS Bank continues to strengthen its management team

APS Bank continues to strengthen its senior management team with the appointmen­t of two heads for the Asset-Liability Management and Compliance functions respective­ly.

Marvin Farrugia, the new Head of Asset-Liability Management, joined APS Bank in 2005 as senior manager Treasury after a career at the Central Bank of Malta. He has held various roles in Wealth Management, Treasury and Asset Liability Management. Marvin holds a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Leicester and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Joseph Farrugia, the new head of Compliance, joined the bank in 2016 as senior Compliance officer after a 34-year banking career, the last 13 of which in senior Compliance positions at HSBC Bank Malta plc. He holds a Diploma from the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Diploma in Financial Services Operations and Compliance.

Appointmen­ts for two newly-created positions in the Risk and Asset-Liability Management department­s have also been announced. Rodney Naudi, the new Business Continuity and Cyber Risk manager, graduated in Mathematic­s and Computing from the University of Malta and successful­ly pursed a Master’s Degree in Advanced Software Engineerin­g from the University of Sheffield. His career spans over 20 years, most of which spent at MITA heading the department of Informatio­n Security. He is also a visiting senior lecturer at the University of Malta.

Matthew Sammut, the new Syndicated Loans manager, who is also a qualified Chartered Finan- cial Analyst (CFA), obtained a B.B.A. in Finance from Baruch College and a B.Sc. in Architectu­re from Cuny City Tech College in America. He subsequent­ly held positions as a credit analyst with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporatio­n and BNP Paribas in New York with experience covering commodity trade finance, high yield lending and investment grade corporates.

“We see the appointmen­ts of Marvin, Joseph, Rodney and Matthew as further milestones in the strengthen­ing of our organisati­on. They bring talent and experience to their respective areas and we are confident of their contributi­on to the bank’s developmen­t,” said Marcel Cassar, APS Bank’s CEO.
