Player of the Month for October

Gilbert Scerri, Marsa White Stars, won the Masters Football Player of the Month award for October. He was presented with a trophy to mark his achievement by Michael Galea, chief officer Business Development of Mapfre MSV Life and Mario Meli, president of Masters Football during a presentation held at the Mapfre MSV Life offices in Floriana.

The Masters Football Player of the Month is a new award that was introduced this year by Mapfre MSV Life as sponsors of the Masters Football Premier League. The player of the month is selected by coaches and officials of the oppos- ing teams by voting after each game.

Gilbert started playing football at an early age. He spent a number of years with Hibernians and played regularly from the Under 12 to Under 18. He then played in the First Division with St Patrick’s for five years followed by a season with Balzan in the Premier Division. He played with Mqabba, which was promoted from First Division to Premier and with Fgura United which was promoted from Third to Second division.

Gilbert is now happy to continue playing football in the Masters League which he considers well organised and very appealing with high quality players. He is happy playing the game he loves with friends and players he used to play with in the MFA Leagues.

In Masters Football, Gilbert played for two seasons with Żabbar St Patrick’s. This season he joined Marsa White Stars and helped his team to remain unbeaten and go top of the standing in the Mapfre MSV Life Premier League. He also scored a good number of goals. Gilbert is an excellent player and his dribbling is extra special. He is also a regular member of the Malta Masters Selection Team.
