Industrial actions at Transport Malta

-

Transport Malta apologises for potential delayed services, its clients might experience due to actions ordered by the UĦM from Monday. The UĦM has ordered industrial actions at Transport Malta, asking its members not to use all means of communication.

Transport Malta and UĦM have, for the past months, been heavily engaged in discussions to secure new collective agreements with the Authority’s workers. The discussions were very constructive and the main collective agreement, which covers about 60% of staff, is mostly agreed upon.

Effective negotiation of all agreements commenced in April, as soon as the Civil Service Agreement was signed. Transport Malta handed over its consolidated position to the Industrial Relations Unit, back in October, who has, unfortunately, not given their go-ahead yet on the other two Collective Agreements.

Transport Malta is committed to investing in its workforce, improving its financial package and conditions of work, to offer a better service for the Maltese public.

It is indeed disappointing that it is, after all, the public that will suffer through these actions. While apologising for the inconvenience, the Authority urges the Industrial Relations Unit to reach its conclusions without delay and the public to avoid requesting its services whenever possible, for now.
