Mazars launches Information Security service

-

Mazars Malta, a member firm of international audit and advisory group Mazars, has launched an Information Security service portfolio designed to protect business owners who are facing an increasing number of challenges on multiple fronts in terms of the security of their data and operations.

Commenting on the launch of the range of services linked to issues of information security, Anthony Attard, managing partner at Mazars Malta, stated that in today’s connected IT environment, “SMEs are being targeted by ‘threat actors‘ such as hackers, hacktivists and criminals, because they typically lack the security defences, the resources, the time and the expert- ise to effectively support and protect their information assets. The imminent introduction of General Data Protection Regulation also continues to increase the risk and duty of care to entities processing and storing personal data. As a result, the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data, which resides in their applications, systems and networks, are at significant risk of being compromised. With this in mind, and in line with Mazars Malta’s business advisory mission, we have engaged Mark Farrugia Sant’Angelo as our Information Security specialist, tasked with the delivery of our portfolio of services in this sector”.

Farrugia Sant’Angelo, who has recently returned from Dublin fol- lowing specific training in this area, explained that the main risks faced by these companies stemmed primarily from data leaks and data theft. Therefore, “as the needs of businesses continue to change, people, processes and technology need to adapt accordingly. To combat this evolving environment, business owners and managers require a concise understanding of their security infrastructure in order to identify data that might be available to hackers and a physical security review”.
