MCAST and Chamber of Fashion Malta Foundation sign MoU
On 5 December the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology and the Chamber of Fashion Malta Foundation signed an agreement to collaborate together and contribute to the development of the fashion industry and culture. The signing took place at MCAST Main Campus in the presence of Evarist Bartolo, Minister for Education and Employment.
MCAST and the Chamber of Fashion Malta Foundation agree to collaborate to organise events related to Made in Malta and Made in Italy creations and workmanship. They agreed to set up training courses in the fashion sector between Italian and Maltese entities, with the help of European Union funding in order to sustain the structure and projects created to enhance Italo-Maltese collaboration in the fashion industry.
MCAST and the Chamber of Fashion Malta Foundation agree to promote new and upcoming Maltese and Italian fashion designers in Italy and in Malta and to set up, organise and put into effect any project related to the fashion sector for the benefit of all parties.
Both entities agree to pursue a policy of mutual organisational support aimed at increasing knowledge, promoting and developing fashion through events with a highly intellectual image in Malta and Italy and to promote the setting up of areas of expertise in the fashion sector.
Both parties agree to enable new and upcoming Italian and Maltese designers to gain experience outside of their countries and also organise English language courses for new and upcoming Italian designers. They will promote the use of Malta for fashion photo shoots and to organise cultural trips to Malta.
MCAST and the Chamber for Fashion Malta Foundation agree to set up scholarships or opportunities for discounted courses in fashion for Maltese participants, support and promote the participation of Maltese photographers, make-up artists and models in fashion events held in Italy and enable exchanges in the fashion sector between both countries.
Both entities will work together to uphold the importance of the fashion, as an integral part of a nation’s culture reflecting its history and traditions. The aim of this agreement is to encourage further signing of agreements with similar organisations in order to contribute to the consolidation of alliances and therefore, to implement a common strategy aimed at developing and circulating Italian and Maltese products in other countries.
The MoU was signed by Dr Silvio De Bono, president MCAST Board of Governors and Penny Apap Brown, academic director, Chamber of Fashion Foundation Malta in the presence of Evarist Bartolo, Minister for Education and Employment.
