Duncan Micallef officially presented as European Top Fuel Dragster champion in Paris by the FIA
The FIA (International Federation of Automobilism) held its General Assembly in Paris to close its annual series of meetings for Motorsports Clubs and Mobility of its members worldwide.
Activities included a Gala dinner and presentation at the Palace of Versailles where the winners of all world sports championships were honoured. During the annual event, president Jean Todt was confirmed the FIA president for the third consecutive time in four years.
The main show of the presentation was the FIA Formula One World Drivers’ Championship Trophy to Lewis Hamilton. The driver of Mercedes won the World Championship trophy for the fourth time. Sébastien Ogier was recognised as FIA World Rally Champion 2017.
In the World Championship of the FIA Endurance, the Timo Bernhard of Germany and New Zealand duo Earl Bamberand and Brendon Hartley took the title of League drivers and helped Porsche to sign on a stint of four seasons in the Championship. Dexter Patterson, Paolo De Contos and Dannyn Keirle were confirmed CIK-FIA champions.
With these internationally-renowned drivers Malta and local motorsport was also there Maltese driver of Top Fuel Dragster Drag Racing Duncan Micallef was presented with his trophy as champion of the fastest motorsport discipline in the world.
It was a great honour for Duncan Micallef who was accompanied by his wife Yanika, Tonio Cini and Oliver Attard, president and secretary general, respectively of the Malta Motorsport Federation as well as for Pierre Vella who attended the week of activities in France on behalf of Touring Club Malta.
