The BRND WGN and university ring road races

-

Sunday, 11 March will mark the seventh edition of the BRND WGN & University Ring Road Races, an event that has gained quite a reputation for itself, with half the proceeds being donated to Hospice Malta.

The university races date back to as early as the 1980s when university students would gather on the ring road for a showdown of the fittest. Fast-forward 30 years or so and we can proudly say the races have come a long way. Last year was one of our biggest events yet! As always, we are aiming to reach even greater heights and we definitely have a lot of surprises up our sleeve.

Hospice Malta is the official charity of the BRND WGN and University Ring Road races. It is a non-profit organisation supporting patients with terminal illness and their families, through its many professional services provided free of charge.

Throughout the day, various races will be held including a 5km and 2km running or walking event open to all abilities. The day will close off with the much-anticipated relay event which requires teams of four people to run a total distance of 5km – a favourite among offices (especially since there are prizes for the top three corporate teams) as well as groups of friends. An 800m children’s race will also take place around the university athletics track.
