Frank V. Farrugia, on behalf of the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Croatian Chamber of Commerce in Zagreb, as part of a Business Forum, which took place this week.

The MoU was countersigned by Luka Burilović, president of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, in the presence of the President of Malta Marie Louise Coleiro Preca and the President of Croatia Kolinda GrabarKitarović.

Addressing the Business Forum, the Malta Chamber president said that a mutual ambi- tion existed to continue building on the relations Malta and Croatia already enjoyed.

“Today, this business forum and business delegation is clear testimony of the commitment to take our healthy relationship to the next level,” he said.

Farrugia commented on the steady growth of trade between Malta and Croatia as statistics published in December 2017 show.

“Such is evidenced by a steady increase in Maltese imports in 2017, reaching €103.8m – an increase of €73m (70%) from the previous calendar year and in Maltese exports in 2017, reaching €6.4m – an increase of €4.8m (75%) over 2016,” he noted.

Touching on the various aspects of the Maltese economy, Farrugia said that several sectors in Malta had registered growth in the past years, while other areas were proving themselves as they were being flagged for potential.

He also spoke in detail on various sectors such as financial services, the ICT sector, education as well as tourism, among others.

“Our Chamber is committed to sustain and promote the excellent business relations between our two countries and continue to bring businesses closer together, for the mutual benefit of both sides,” he concluded.
