Meusac hosting Europe Direct information centre in Valletta

• Europe Direct contact points in Malta form part of 450 walk-in centres found across Europe

-

Meusac is currently hosting one of three Europe Direct information centres in Malta. The EDIC network of information centres, documentation centres and speakers is present in every EU country and provides a local contact point for anything that is EUrelated.

The two other centres in Malta are hosted by the Institute for European Studies at the University of Malta in Msida and the Gozo Business Chamber in Victoria. All three entities will host the centres for the next three years.

There are around 450 walk-in centres that make up the Europe Direct network currently operating in Europe, which are financially supported by the European Commission.

The EDIC contact points are there to answer citizens’ questions on EU-related affairs such as their rights as EU citizens and EUfunding opportunities. They also provide opportunities for individuals and organisations to participate in EU information and networking events as well as providing sources to other EU-related information.

Since one of Meusac’s roles is to provide EU-related information, by hosting EDIC the services provided by the agency will be further enhanced.

The centres are also there to help in the organisation of EU or Europe-themed events while also giving information on jobs with the EU institutions and offering information on any other opportunities available.

Strategicaly located in the centre of Valletta, Meusac will continue to raise awareness on the benefits of EU citizenship and to promote EU values and principles.

Meusac will strive to continue to reach out to the public at forthcoming events. Furthermore, in the coming weeks it will launch a newsletter to be published quarterly in a digital format. Articles by Meusac officials are published in a string of local newspapers and officials also participate in radio programmes.

Meusac constantly posts infor- mation in relation to EU matters on its website www.meusac.gov.mt and through the social media on Facebook and twitter.
