Jetco agreement signed between Maltese and Turkish economic ministers
A session of the Joint Economic and Trade Commission was held between the Minister for the Economy, Investment and Small Businesses Chris Cardona and the Minister for the Economy of Turkey Nihat Zeybekçi, aimed at enhancing the strategic partnership between Malta and Turkey. The bilateral Jetco agreement, which was signed, serves to encourage a deepening of business links and to lay the foundation for productive partnerships in various new areas.
During the signing, Minister Cardona stressed that both sides have underlined the importance of increasing and levelling up the investments between Turkey and Malta, and have also shown a willingness to launch common initiatives, encourage the participation of their private sectors in various activities and promote technical exploration visits to strengthen relationships and capacitybuilding through joint activities. Turkey is a key strategic EU partner that shares the vocation of business hub for the region, as does Malta, while both countries serve as important gateways for larger regional markets.
Commercial relations between Malta and Turkey have expanded considerably in recent years. The agreement, which was signed, also highlights opportunities for collaborating in the field of maritime transportation, the shipbuilding industry, the use and protection of water resources, agriculture, science and technology and environmental and urban development.
