KPMG helps communities at local primary schools
Over the past two weeks, KPMG staff had the opportunity to volunteer in local primary schools, in collaboration with Jaye Malta Foundation. Employees from different departments of the leading professional services firm dedicated a day to delivering the Our Community programme, designed to give Year 4 students vital exposure to concepts relating to society, jobs and money.
Through interactive games and activities tailored for an eight-yearold audience, students learned about working together and the meaning of a community. KPMG staff spoke to students about different jobs and gave a basic introduction of the way money works and moves around the economy.
With every day bringing new headlines relating to economic growth and job opportunities, it is of paramount importance that the next generation of students are introduced to financial literacy from an early age.
“Apart from helping to brighten up the kids’ Monday and give them a short break from their usual subjects, we really enjoyed the experience of sharing some of our practical experiences from the business world,” commented Andreana Boldarini, Human Resources manager at KPMG.
The schools visited were St Margaret’s Primary in Senglea, St Margaret’s Primary in Zabbar, St Benedict’s Primary in Ghaxaq and St Benedict’s Primary in Zurrieq.
