BOV sponsors Faculty of Arts top students

-

Six students reading for a degree at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Malta were awarded a mention on the Dean’s List. Bank of Valletta supported awards to each of these students during a brief ceremony, which was addressed by Dean Professor Dominic Fenech and Joyce Tabone, manager at Bank of Valletta.

The students who succeeded in having their name etched on the Dean’s List were Jasmine Alexia Bajada, Sarah Debono, Tiziana Borg, Samwel Grima, Anna Lombardi Cassar and Bernice Magro. These students will be graduating in November.

Professor Fenech explained that the Dean’s List was reserved for only the very best students, stressing how hard it was to reach a benchmark of such excellence. He noted that in recent years the number of students qualifying for the award was relatively high, which went to show that at the top end students’ academic standards were rising. He added that the addresses of the students awarded showed also that students from the “south” of Malta, while fewer in terms of numbers attending university, performed as well as anyone else.

Speaking during the presentation, Tabone congratulated the students on their outstanding achievement. “Bank of Valletta supports a number of initiatives that recognise academic excellence and encourage talent. A good academic preparation serves as the foundation to a successful career, which in today’s world means continuous learning and specialisation.”

At the end of the presentation the students thanked their lecturers for their care and attention and the Faculty of Arts in general for the strong support it gives to the students.
