The Phoenicia Malta’s owner Mark Shaw has hailed the appointment of Brice Kemper, former Resident manager of the luxury Hôtel du CapEden-Roc in Antibes on the French Riviera, as a “real coup” for the hotel.

Shaw said: “Being a world class hotel means delivering a world class experience for all our guests.

Kemper is someone who knows exactly what this means and how to make it happen. His reputation is widely recognised in the industry and we are delighted that he has decided to bring his expertise to The Phoenicia at such an exciting time in the hotel’s development.”

“Malta is thriving as a destination, and as its reputation grows, we, at The Phoenicia, intend to welcome new visitors with ever higher standards of excellence and quality. We searched long and hard for the right person to lead the team and are very fortunate to have found the ideal person, and personality, in Brice Kemper.”

Kemper brings decades of experience in the hospitality sector having worked in numerous prestigious hotels across the globe, including the five-star The Peninsula Hotel on New York’s Fifth Avenue and the Four Seasons Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat on the Côte d’Azur.

Speaking in the Palm Court Lounge of The Phoenicia, Kemper said he was excited for the future: “This is a dream appointment for me; both an honour and an exciting opportunity to be a part of the team taking the famous The Phoenicia to the next level in luxury accommodation.

“Mark’s plans for future developments, including a gorgeous new spa, are ambitious and will cement The Phoenicia’s status as one of the world’s leading hotels.”

Kemper takes over from Charles Azzopardi who has been at The Phoenicia for the past 25 years, the last 12 years as general manager overseeing recent renovations and solidifying the hotel’s position as one of Malta’s premier five-star experiences.

A €30m investment in an 18-month-long refurbishment has seen The Phoenicia Malta lovingly restored and elevated to the elegant and luxurious resort of years gone by, when it was a favourite destination of Queen Elizabeth and many celebrities. The stunning new spa is scheduled to open next year.
