Further support for entrepreneurs and researchers in the maritime field
Malta Marittima and the University of Malta have announced the second call for proposals for the Maritime Seed Award (MarSA), an initiative undertaken with the support of the University’s Knowledge Transfer Office, Takeoff Business Incubator and Centre for Entrepreneurship and Business Incubation. Funding amounting to €40,000 will be allocated through this competitive call open to researchers and entrepreneurs working in the maritime area.
Two types of funds are being offered, namely, Proof of Concept funds to support University of Malta researchers to take their research closer to commercialisation and Seed Funds to enable entrepreneurs to move their venture closer to securing their first customer or investment. The call for applications for up to €20,000 per application is currently open until Tuesday, 22 October at noon.
Interested researchers are to attend a workshop, which will be held on 14 October for Proof of Concept applicants, whereas entrepreneurs should attend the workshop on 15 October for Seed Fund applicants. Attendance at these workshops is mandatory for all applicants.
Prof. Alfred J. Vella, University of Malta rector, noted that “the University is pleased with the high quality of the applications received earlier on this year as well as in previous years and will continue offering its support to the Maritime Seed award to ensure that the high quality is maintained in projects in the Maritime field, ensuring the possibility of enhancing this sector”.
