Qatar Airways supporting the Mediterranean Stars Festival
Qatar Airways, the multiple award-winning airline, has supported the Mediterranean Stars Festival, which was held in Malta on 4 October and which attracted an audience of thousands.
The event was a chance for the airline to grow closer cultural ties to the island following the launch of services from Doha to Malta earlier this year. In fact, Qatar Airways celebrated their fourth month anniversary of flights from Doha to Malta on 4 October.
Mate Hoffmann, Country manager of Qatar Airways, Italy and Malta, said: “With Malta at the heart of the Mediterranean and the airline launching its Doha to Malta route a few months ago, our support emphasises our commitment in the island. We had a fantastic evening and enjoyed an excellent line-up of talent as the summer season draws to a close.”
The Mediterranean Tourism Foundation, in collaboration with international orchestra conductor Bruno Santori, created the Mediterranean Stars Festival to bring people together through music, promote peace and re-inforce a common Mediterranean identity.
The festival was co-ordinated by radio station Radio Italia and held at the iconic Granaries in Floriana. Santori conducted the Mediterranean Orchestra which was founded in 2016 to bring together concert-standard musicians from across the region offering a repertoire ranging from classical, pop and jazz to sacred music.
In addition a number of individual artists attended including Alessandra Amoroso, Gigi D’Alessio, Elisa, Francesco Gabbani, Guè Pequeno, J-Ax, Mahmood, Max Pezzali, Raf, Umberto Tozzi and Maltese performers including Ira Losco, all backed with a 60-piece orchestra.
Qatar Airways operates an Airbus A320 aircraft on flights to Malta, featuring 12 seats in Business Class and 120 seats in Economy Class. As well as enjoying the award-winning in-flight service on board, travelling passengers also have access to Oryx One, Qatar Airways’ in-flight entertainment system, offering the latest blockbuster movies, TV box sets, music, games and much more. The schedule comprises a daily service during the summer season and four flights a week in winter.
Qatar Airways currently operates a modern fleet of more than 250 aircraft via its hub, Hamad International Airport to more than 160 destinations worldwide.
A multiple award-winning airline, Qatar Airways was named World’s Best Airline by the 2019 World Airline Awards, managed by international air transport rating organisation Skytrax. It was also named Best Airline in the Middle East, World’s Best Business Class and Best Business Class Seat, in recognition of its ground-breaking Business Class experience, Qsuite. Qatar Airways is the only airline to have been awarded the coveted Skytrax Airline of the Year title for five times, which is recognised as the pinnacle of excellence in the airline industry.
