Connecting ITS students with the Hospitality and Tourism industry
For another consecutive year, the Institute of Tourism Studies hosted an Industry Day, at the ITS campus in Luqa. This event brings together the Hospitality and Tourism industry together with tomorrow’s industry workers who are currently studying at the Institute of Tourism Studies.
The Industry Day is held with the aim of giving students the unique opportunity to meet and get to know different reputable organisations at their place of study, which could be used as a networking event, as well as an opportunity to be offered an interview or trial within the various organisations present.
Representatives from over 30 reputable companies were present for this important event, which is crucial for both the Tourism and Hospitality industry and ITS students.
ITS CEO Pierre Fenech stated: “This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for our students, which may be used as a first step onto their future career within the Tourism and Hospitality industry. This event has proved successful every year and is inordinately sought after by the industry and our students.”
Carlo Micallef, ITS chairman said that he compliments ITS management and staff for organising another successful event of Industry Day which gives the opportunity to Malta’s key stakeholders in tourism to meet ITS students on campus and promote their organisation or enterprise as future potential employers of the students at ITS.
ITS remains focused in its mission to achieve excellence in education and prepare students to take up career paths in the tourism industry both in Malta as well as overseas.
MHRA CEO, Andrew Agius Muscat visited the event and stated that with tourism being the heart of the Maltese economy, the hospitality and tourism industry is now offering a far greater product which provides the tourist a greater variety to choose from.
Agius Muscat added that the aim is to attract even more students while they are young to choose a career in this rewarding and thriving industry and not only study to get a certificate but experience what the industry has to offer during their placements. He said that this event is a great opportunity for the students to connect with the industry and for the industry to meet students studying in the Maltese islands and interested in working within the various fields within the industry.
