More than €12,000 raised for charity at MIA’s Lost, Found and Auctioned event

-

More than €12,000 were raised at Malta International Airport’s ninth edition of Lost, Found and Auctioned, which was held last week.

An average of 800 lost and found items are claimed and returned to their rightful owners by Malta International Airport’s lost and found team every year. Items that remain unclaimed, on the other hand, eventually find new owners at the annual charity event.

Lost, Found and Auctioned has become a staple event in the airport’s annual calendar, with this year’s edition being attended by more than 200 prospective bidders looking to indulge in some unconventional Christmas shopping.

Popular radio hosts Frank, Nate and Rossi became auctioneers for the night and dropped the hammer on 86 lots, which ranged from the usual suspects that are belts and sunglasses, to more unlikely items including a toaster and a sewing machine.

Some of the highest-fetching items on the night included a luxury watch that was sold for €700, a drone that was sold for €300 and several pieces of mystery luggage that were packed with gifts.

The total amount raised on the night will be donated to Hospice Malta, an organisation whose primary role is the provision and promotion of palliative care, including psycho-social and emotional support to persons suffering from a number of serious diseases.

The Richmond Foundation, the Sovereign Order of Malta, Inspire and Dar tal-Providenza were some of the organisations that benefitted from past editions of MIA’s Lost, Found and Auctioned event.
