Front-liners thanked personally for their ‘act of love and selflessness’
Vassallo Group marked its 74th Anniversary on the 4th June with a special visit to all care homes and the Central Processing Unit (CPU) at CaterEssence. Group Chairman Nazzareno Vassallo, Group CEO Pio Vassallo, CareMalta CEO Natalie Briffa Farrugia wanted to personally thank all employees for their hard work, sacrifices and dedication shown throughout the COVID-19 live-ins that took place in the past weeks. A special memento was presented to each home to commemorate what has been termed as “an act of love and selflessness”.
A number of employees in the care sector stayed at the care home in which they work for ten whole weeks in order to provide the residents under their care the maximum protection possible against COVID-19. On the other hand a number of chefs at CaterEssence also stayed at the CPU for a number of weeks to ensure a continuity of service of the food they were preparing for the elderly and persons with disability
Vassallo Group’s roots go back to the construction industry back in 1946 where Vassallo Builders started off rebuilding Malta from the ruins of the war.
The Group eventually ventured into elderly care when Casa Arkati, the first purposely built elderly home was opened in 1993 and to this day CareMalta operates 9 elderly homes, eventually also offering services in the disability sector through HILA and Hand in Hand.
Over the years the group also branched into other sectors including those related to construction such as the joinery, scaffolding and steel sections but also other sectors such as catering and hospitality, property management and education.
