Plans for another tower in Paceville have been submitted to the Planning Authority, the company PX Lettings announced on Wednesday.

The tower, which will rise 33-storeys, will be situated at the entrance to Paceville, occupying 1,100 square metres of space from a site of 3,400 square metres, with a plaza which is fully accessible to the public taking up the rest of the area.

The tower will include serviced apartments on its upper floors, a business centre in the lower part of the building, and ancillary retail and restaurant spaces to complement the public plaza. Parking facilities will also be provided to cater for the development.

The company behind the project said that the building tapers upwards to reduce shadowing and it features circular windows overlooking its extensive ter

INDIS Malta will assist in the completion of the renovation works at the Ta' Qali Artisan Village, Minister for the Economy and Industry Silvio Schembri announced.

INDIS Malta is responsible for the administration of government-owned industrial parks and related facilities around Malta and Gozo, as well as supporting and promoting their races, and completely does away with ornament and traditional double-skin cladding to present a strong, slim, sleek, and powerful silhouette.

They said that the building shall tap into the latest technological advancements to ensure environmental sustainability and seeks to achieve the globally recognised LEED certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).

“It is designed to perform within its environment, by placing all its service areas and cores on the south side to shield the habitable spaces against the harsh sun, while optimising the views of the Mediterranean Sea to the north.”

In a statement, PX Lettings said that the building is “inspired by the simplicity and stateliness of Malta’s Renaissance architecture.”

“This striking mono-material building is the result of a search for archifurther development.

"INDIS Malta has launched a framework agreement through which it will take responsibility on behalf of the artisans," Schembri remarked. This will be done so that they will hire the contractors at pre-established rates in order to complete the work at the Ta' Qali tectural purity and the elimination of all that is not essential. Incorporating innovative environment-friendly features, it strives to create a sense of identity”, the statement reads.

The project, which is owned by Paul Xuereb through his company PX Lettings, has been designed by 7478+ Christian Spiteri Architects, a partnership between a top international ar

"Today I can announce that, through the support provided by this agreement, the construction on all the remaining plots that need to be renovated will start next June," Schembri said.

The plots areas will be divided chitecture firm based in Rotterdam and a prominent Maltese architectural firm.

Xuereb said: “This is an exciting moment because after much discussion and a long design process we are now submitting the plans for a project we believe is a smart and sensitive answer to the contemporary challenges of Paceville’s development.”

into 4 and will be built simultaneously by different contractors, thus speeding up the process.

To date, out of 70 artisans, 19 have completed their works and started operating. There are 8 works in progress at the moment while 43 are still pending.

22 of these have already been confirmed and entered into the framework agreement launched by INDIS. Work will therefore begin on them, Schembri pointed out.

The rest are in the final discussions with INDIS so that they too can join this work program.

"Our vision for this village goes beyond this, as we are looking to give a complete vil

lage that offers all the services."

He also pointed out that the visual appeal of buildings and construction will also be taken into account.

"Another ambitious project that breathe life to this area is the construction of an immersive attraction for visitors, which will be the first of its kind in Malta. Its purpose is to encourage thousands of people to the artisan village, thus generating additional activity in the area for the benefit of all artisans."

Several open spaces around this artisan village including swings, parking, public amenities and open spaces are also being introduced.

"The goal is for this area to become a tourist landmark."
