Mapfre Malta switches off the lights during Earth Hour

-

This year, Mapfre Malta has once again joined the World Wide Fund for Nature initiative of Earth Hour, which is renowned for being the largest mobilisation campaign against climate change. The event took place on Saturday, 27 March between 8.30 and 9.30pm.

Throughout previous years, Mapfre Malta has joined this initiative by turning off luminous signs and billboards along with all the computers and electrical appliances, both from the workplace as well as the homes of the company’s employees.

Furthermore, Mapfre Malta carried out a social media campaign in order to raise awareness and encourage people to join in this great cause.

Mapfre Group has been participating in this event since 2009 and although this has been a difficult year due to the pandemic, the company wishes to continue in playing its part towards safeguarding the health of our planet.

Mapfre Group continues working towards being a benchmark in sustainability. The Group continues to reinforce its commitment to the fight against climate change by striving to have all operations of Mapfre companies based in Spain and Portugal to be carbon neutral by the end of this year. In so doing, this will bring with it up to a 60% reduction in the Group’s emissions, with the rest of the Group following in the same footsteps by 2030.

In addition to this, as a collaborating company in Earth Hour 2021, Mapfre has already signed the letter of support in favour of the World Wide Fund for Nature to strengthen its work against climate change.
