Lovin Malta CEO quits media to join PN in strategy role
Lovin Malta founder at CEO Christian Peregin will be leaving the media organisation to join the Nationalist Party.
Peregin, 33 and a former journalist of Times of Malta, said he will “exit Lovin Malta completely” and start working with the PN in a role which is as yet to be announced.
Peregin will be relinquishing his position as CEO, along with his directorship and shareholding within the media company he founded in 2016.
In a social media post, he said he took the decision due to the “democratic deficit” that exists between the two parties, with Labour having a seven-seat majority.
“The gap in support between the government and the opposition has remained too wide for too long and the trend seems to be taking us closer towards a two-thirds majority for Labour, which would effectively mean a oneparty state,” he wrote.
Admitting that he voted for the PL in the past, he said he has no bitterness towards Labour or Prime Minister Robert Abela, but said he wants to help the party forge a vision for the country.
Peregin said the PN is today “only a shadow of its former self” and must be rebuilt.
Party sources said that Peregin was among a number of people who responded to PN Leader Bernard Grech’s call for unity and collaboration.
While his position within the PN is as yet undefined, it is understood that the former journalist will have a “leading” role, possibly related to strategy or media.
