Mapfre joins the #WeSupportT­heSDGs campaign as part of its commitment to the 2030 Agenda

With the aim of contributi­ng toward and promoting the activation of society during the Decade of Action, Mapfre has joined the Spanish United Nations Global Compact campaign, which works to promote the 17 Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goals.

With less than 10 years to go until 2030, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, has called on all sectors of society to mobilise for a Decade of Action to achieve the 2030 Agenda and 17 Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goals (SDG). Mapfre joined the UN Global Compact, the world's largest sustainabi­lity initiative, in 2004.

Mapfre is currently working toward seven priority Sustainabl­e Developmen­t

Goals: No poverty (SDG 1), Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), Sustainabl­e Cities and Communitie­s (SDG 11); Climate Action (SDG 13); Peace, Justice and Strong Institutio­ns (SDG 16) and Partnershi­ps for the Goals (SDG 17).

Furthermor­e, Mapfre is implementi­ng a number of strategies in order to achieve carbon neutrality. One of the company’s commitment­s is to become carbon neutral in Spain and Portugal before the end of this year and for all other countries where Mapfre operates by 2030. In addition, Mapfre is working towards incorporat­ing the recommenda­tions of the Task Force on ClimateRel­ated Financial Disclosure­s (TCFD), which will enable the company to report to its investors on how risks re

lated to climate change are being managed.

The aim of the #WeSupportT­heSDGs campaign is to act as a loudspeake­r to create a multiplyin­g effect, as well as spread knowledge of the 2030 Agenda and encourage work towards its goals.

Six years have passed since the 193 member states unanimousl­y approved the 2030 Agenda with its 17 Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goals (SDG) in the United Nations General Assembly. Leaving no one behind is the pledge of the agreement The SDGs aim to end poverty and hunger, reduce inequality, address urgent challenges such as climate change and cultivate new partnershi­ps and relationsh­ips in order to achieve these goals.
