The High Commission of Malta in Ghana inaugurated
Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade Ian Borg officially inaugurated the High Commission of Malta in Accra, Ghana, last Tuesday
During the inauguration of the High Commission, with the participation of the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ghana and Ambassadors of other countries in Ghana, Minister Ian Borg claimed that today is a clear demonstration of Malta’s commitment and willingness
to continue strengthening its bilateral relationship with this
very important country in the African continent. Minister
Ian Borg claimed that this is the first Maltese diplomatic representation in sub-Saharan Africa and there has been diplomatic presence since 2019.
During his speech, Minister Borg remarked how this step goes hand-in-hand with the Foreign Affairs policy of the Malta-Africa Strategy 20202025, as it will continue to strengthen the partnership between the two continents. He claimed how this step will be serving as a catalyst for further growth and development in this strategic partnership.
The Minister thanked the High Commissioner Jean Claude Galea Mallia, his deputy and the rest of the staff
for the important work they carried out to make this step a reality. He also thanked the High Commissioner of Ghana in Malta for her important work to continue bringing the two countries closer together.
From his end, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ghana Kwaku AmpratwumSarpong stated that it is an honour for the Republic of Ghana that Malta, as a Mediterranean country at the heart of the European Union, is opening this High Commission. He went on to say how he looks forward to further increasing the cooperation between the two countries through the High Commission.
