Greenroads receives European innovation recognition and is making strides in Smart City Development
Greenroads has been recognised by the European Commission as a prime innovator and has been listed in its Innovation Radar.
Greenroads is a Maltese data analysis company that uses AI to create insights for better urban planning. This year Greenroads' technology was recognised by the European Commission's Innovation Radar.
This award for excellent innovation relates to Greenroads’ core product, Green Flow, which collects information on roads and open spaces from existing infrastructure to help planning insights. With just a normal camera, Green Flow can detect and track different types of vehicles and pedestrians as well as analyse how fast they are going and where they are switching lanes. Data can be visualised and exported for further analysis and simulations of hypothetical scenarios.
This smart city technology and resulting GDPR-compliant data enables urban planners to develop greener, safer and more liveable spaces that prioritise active and environmentally-friendly modes of transport including new pedestrian crossings, low emission zones and more effective design of bicycle routes.
The Innovation Radar builds on the information and data gathered by independent experts involved in reviewing ongoing research and innovation projects funded by the European Commission. These experts provide an independent view regarding the innovations in the projects and their market potential.
The aim is to make information about EU-funded innovations from high-quality projects visible and accessible to the public. This demonstrates to European citizens the many excellent technological and scientific advances being delivered by researchers and innovators around Europe that are funded on their behalf by the European Commission.
Greenroads’ inclusion in this initiative highlights the innovative work that the company is doing and opens up new opportunities for this Maltese startup, which is seeking to apply its technology in Italy, Spain and Germany.
