ITS pastry students participating in the Junior’s Pastry World Cup

-

ITS students are prepared to make history as they represent Malta in the prestigious Junior’s Pastry World Cup, an esteemed competition organised by SIGEP in Rimini, Italy. The team comprises ITS lecturer Jimmy Aquilina, students Abigail Micallef and Henrica Galea, with Andrew Farrugia as team manager. Providing support are ITS lecturers Steve D’Anastasi and Martin R. Cutajar, along with ITS student Nirvana Falzon, who will serve as mentors for the ambitious contestants.

This marks a significant milestone for ITS, as it ventures into the realm of high-level pastry competitions for the first time. The theme for this year's event, Myths and Legends, adds an exciting dimension, challenging participants to craft artistic chocolate and sugar showpieces alongside delectable plate desserts, sorbets, gateaux and traditional Maltese street food.

The Junior’s Pastry World Cup is no ordinary competition; it is a distinctive blend of team dynamics and pastry exhibition. The stakes are high, as the creations will be scrutinised by a panel of distinguished judges, including top European figures such as Iginio Massari and Roberto Rinaldi, both renowned Italian MasterChef judges.

Months of preparation have gone into readying the participants for this culinary challenge, with dedicated training sessions since August. The students, mentors and the entire ITS community rally behind the team. Graced by the support of the Minister for Tourism and Public Cleanliness, this venture exemplifies the dedication and prowess of ITS in the realm of international pastry competitions.

Special thanks to the Malta Tourism Authority for their collaboration and CP Trading Co. Ltd for sponsoring the chef jackets for our students and lecturers. Furthermore, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Ministry for Tourism and Public Cleanliness for their support.
