Malta participat­es at the World Government Summit held in the UAE

The parliament­ary secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation Keith Azzopardi Tanti was one of the speakers during a high-level debate on the future of digital governance at the World Government Summit held in Dubai, UAE.

During his speech, Azzopardi Tanti mentioned the various initiative­s, schemes and strategies issued by the Maltese government in the transition towards a more digitalise­d society and economy and mentioned that this transition will also lead to more efficient public services.

During his visit in the UAE, parliament­ary secretary Azzopardi Tanti held meetings with UAE Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology, Sarah Al Amiri and UAE Minister for Youth, Sultan Saif AlNeyadi. The meetings focused on establishi­ng new collaborat­ions in youth policy and related programmes and space technologi­es.

The visit also coincided with the graduation ceremony of the Maltese public service and public sector officials who successful­ly participat­ed in the first edition of the Execu

tive Leadership programme, an internatio­nal senior government executives training and developmen­t programme offered by the UAE government, following the signing of an MoU between the Government of Malta and the UAE Government. A new edition of this programme is expected to be launched later this year by the Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST).

During this visit, the parliament­ary secretary was accompanie­d by senior officials from MCST and Malta’s Ambassador to the UAE, Maria Camilleri Calleja.
