Enhancing teacher education to prevent early school leaving and promote social inclusion

-

The Centre for Resilience and Socio-Emotional Health at the University of Malta is a partner in a new three-year Erasmus+ project (2016-2018) aimed at the creation of learning environments that foster equity and inclusion, with a particular focus on children at risk for early school leaving.

The project addresses the needs of teachers as professionals to obtain pedagogical support to enhance their skills for creating positive and supporting learning environments which increase the resilience of young people in disadvantaged situations who need support and coaching for constructing a positive self-concept, setting realistic personal goals and developing strategies to achieve well-being.

EMPAQT is coordinated by Trakia University (Bulgaria) and includes six partners. The University of Malta is represented by Prof. Carmel Cefai, Prof. Paul Bar- tolo, Dr Patrick Camilleri and Denise Micallef.

The second consortium meeting was held in June in Mugla Turkey, one of the partners in the project. The next meeting will be held at the University of Malta in November.
