MCAST application week

The Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology will be receiving applications from new students for its full-time courses beginning in October from tomorrow, Monday, 25 July.

MCAST will be receiving applications between 8.30am and 12noon on the following dates: Monday, 25 July for applicants whose surname starts with the letter A; Tuesday, 26 July for applicants whose surname starts with the letter B; Wednesday, 27 July for applicants whose surname starts with the letter C; Thursday, 28 July for applicants whose surname starts with the letters D, E, F and Friday, 29 July for applicants whose surname starts with the letters G,H, I, J, K and L; Monday, 1 August for applicants whose surname starts with the letter M; Tuesday, 2 August for applicants whose surname starts with the letters N, O, P, Q, R, S and on Wednesday, 3 August for applicants whose surname starts with the letters T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z.

Applicants who cannot submit their application on these dates may do so on Thursday, 4 or Friday, 5 August between 8.30am and 12noon. Prospective students are to submit their application at the Student’s House, MCAST Main Campus, Paola. Gozitan applicants may apply at the MCAST Gozo Campus, J. F. De Chambray Street, Ghajnsielem.

Applicants who will be abroad on the above-mentioned application dates should submit their application before these dates at the Registrar’s Office, MCAST Main Campus, Paola. The travel ticket must be shown as proof that the applicant will be abroad. Applicants who reside in Gozo and wish to apply for a course held in Malta, can present their application at the Gozo Campus in Ghajnsielem as well.

The Foundation College, which offers programmes at MQF/EQF Levels 1, 2 and 3, is this year introducing the MCAST Foundation Certificate in Hairdressing, Beauty and Well-Being; the MCAST Foundation Certificate in the Creative Arts; the MCAST Foundation Certificate in Robotics and an innovative course with a very different structure entitled Skills Kits.

Skills Kits is an introductory level programme and is intended for students who prefer to study at their own pace and explore different vocational areas. It is made up of a number of Kits (small bite-size topics) at MQF/EQF Level 1 that cover various vocational areas as well as personal and employability skills. The programme provides the students with the possibility to choose the number of Skills Kits to study over a period of time. It also gives the students the opportunity to choose their own combination. The Skills Kits include various topics such as art, hairdressing, beauty, basic web design, caring for others, animal care, sport and installation of low voltage devices. Students successfully completing 30 Skills Kits obtain the MCAST Introductory Skills Certificate. Students are also eligible to progress to Level 2 if they successfully complete at least 30 Skills Kits that include six Skills Kits from Employability Skills, six Skills Kits from Personal Skills and three Skills Kits which target English, Maltese and Maths.

The Technical College, which provides programmes of study at MQF/EQF Level 4 in close collaboration with industry, is introducing three new courses, namely the MCAST Advanced Diploma in Cultural Heritage, which is designed to address skills shortages in the heritage sector; the MCAST Advanced Diploma in Food Technology, which is a multidisciplinary programme that includes topics on food analysis, product manufacturing, food safety, cost accounting and product design and the MCAST Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts, which is a two- year programme that provides students with an understanding of various performing arts subjects at an advanced level.

The University College, which caters for higher education programmes and vocational degrees is introducing nine new programmes including two Master’s degree programmes at MQF/EQF Level 7 for the first time. The new courses on offer within this College are the MCAST Higher Diploma for Accounting Technicians, the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Fish Management, Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Journalism, the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Business Analytics, Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Financial Services Management, Higher Diploma in Exercise for Health, Higher Diploma in Facilitating Inclusive Education, Master of Business Administration (MBA) for the Small Business and Masters in Business Informatics in collaboration with Haaga-Helia, University of Applied Sciences.
