Alegria celebrates flamenco dance with students

-

Alegria Academia de Baile Flamenco has terminated its scholastic year with a party at Razzett L-Antik in Qormi. All students, teachers, family and friends gathered to celebrate the end of a hardworking year.

The director, Ingrid Sciberras, was pleased to announce that all students who underwent Alianza Flamenca assessments passed successfully and were all complimented on their high level of dancing. Certificates of attendance were also awarded to students who attended choreography classes.

The highlight of the evening was the awarding of four scholarships. With the growth of Flamenco dance in Gozo, the Dhalia local scholarship was awarded to Sonya Camilleri from Alegria Gozo. Sonya is a hard working student who will be able to attend numerous classes to further her technique. The Comsec International award was awarded to a member of Alegria Dance Company, Dael Scerri. Dael will be attending a course at the annual Flamenco Festival which is held in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain in February 2017. The Puerto Flamenco scholarship which is sponsored by both Alegria and Puerto Flamenco was awarded to Katrina Spiteri Bailey, who will be attending a course by Francesca Grima next summer. The final award, which is sponsored by the director of Choreography at Alegria, Estelle Bonello Sant went to Helena Micallef, a loyal and hardworking student who will benefit from a course next year with Maria del Mar Moreno in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.

Alegria are back at work this summer to prepare for their biannual Academy Performance on 26 and 27 November in Malta and for the first time in Gozo on 10 December. For further details send an email on alegriamalta@gmail.com
