SOS Malta, in Amatrice, calls for national effort to help Italy
SOS Malta yesterday called for a national effort to help Italy with rebuilding, as its K9 Search and Rescue team headed back to Amatrice to meet with the head of operations yesterday.
SOS Malta’s Head of Mission John Gera was contacted by Antonio Tassi, the head of the Italian rescue operation, to discuss further assistance by the team and possibly conduct further searches in Amatrice.
SOS Malta yesterday reported that its two K9 dogs were checked by an Italian vet and were found to be in perfect health after their searches.
The organisation said it was the first time that SOS Malta is operating in a country where Malta has an Embassy and it publicly thanked Ambassador Vanessa Frazier “for the constant support and collaboration she has personally given us.”
SOS Malta said it will not stop at Search and Rescue, and that it will assist in delivering humanitarian aid and any other initiatives Malta will be taking.
“Let us make this a national effort and help Italy with rebuilding.”
SOS Malta urged the Maltese public to answer its appeal at: www.sosmalta.org/donate_now
