-

Ivan Grech’s first solo concert, in front of a sold out audience at Pjazza Teatru Rjal on 19 August, was an overwhelming success. The singer/songwriter entertained the audience for two-anda-half hours non-stop, performing some of the best hits he composed for Winter Moods, and popular covers ranging from Elvis to Depeche Mode, Marillion, U2, Duran Duran, the Beatles, and more.

“I am ecstatic,” said Ivan after the concert. “The audience instantly got into the vibe of the performance. They sang, they danced, they made it special. The intimacy of the theatre surrounded by Valletta’s beautiful architecture made this one very memorable performance.”

Ivan was accompanied on stage by Jeremy Micallef and David Cassar Torregiani on guitars, Conrad Dimech on guitars and keyboards, David Ciantar on keyboards, Robert Galea on bass and Raphael Tonna on drums, as well as Dario Bezzina and Amanda Dimech on backing vocals.

Maestro Dominic Galea joined Ivan for an interlude on a red piano for the rendition of Can’t Help Falling in Love, Where Have All The Flowers Gone, Wonderful World, Miss You and Xemx.

Renowned international musicians Carl Carlton and Pascal Kravetz joined Ivan for a cover of Robert Palmer’s Addicted To Love, which had the audience on its feet. Carl Carlton is the guitarist of the original recording of the song. Kravetz who featured in Winter Moods’ The Journey album on piano also performed Everlast- ing with Ivan and the band.

“Feedback from the people who attended is pretty amazing,” concluded Ivan. “This is set to become an annual event!”

The concert was presented by Jack Daniels, sponsored by Coca Cola, Hard Rock Café and Renault, and supported by Hamilton Travel, Mayfair Clinic, Easygas, Global College and Arkadia. This concert was organised by Striped Sox.
