Vassallo Group employees participate in CSR event at San Blas

Over 60 employees from various sectors of Vassallo Group participated in this year’s annual CSR event carried out at San Blas in Zebbug, one of the rehabilitation centres run by Caritas. Employees from the Group’s main three companies Vassallo Builders, Caremalta and CaterEssence participated in this initiative.

Helpers were split into teams where each group was assigned different tasks. Works carried out included construction, maintenance, gardening, IT and cleaning. With the help of experienced Vassallo Builders construction workers and the financial backing of Vassallo Group, a clothes’ hanging area for residents was created and a room was refurbished to serve as a play area for children who visit parents undergoing a programme within the Centre.

HR director Charlo Bonnici explained that this was one of the largest and most diverse Groups ever to participate in this annual event. “CSR serves as an opportunity for our Group and our employees to contribute towards society. It is also, however, a golden opportunity for teambuilding which is particularly beneficial for employees coming from different companies, different departments and different nations as well.”

Vassallo Group chairman Nazzareno Vassallo led a team within the Centre’s kitchen where food was cooked and served to all participants as well as residents and staff. He thanked all those who participated in this year’s event saying that this was the perfect way of celebrating the Group’s 70th anniversary.
