Malta Young Professionals sponsored by Farsons

-

The end of last year saw the launch of an exciting new initiative in Malta, designed to actively encourage young professionals, entrepreneurs, and students to expand their network of professional contacts and benefit from new opportunities, and original ways of acquiring knowledge.

Malta Young Professionals was launched on Facebook on 6th December 2016 and in just over a month has amassed an impressive 800 members. The group has been positively received by individuals and businesses alike and has proved the need for a Maltese forum where young professionals can come together, share ideas, and network with likeminded people. There are already success stories from the Facebook Group as members have been using the platform to find jobs, hire employees, find collaborators and exchange opinions and tips thus proving both the need and the importance of a network such as this.

Following its incredible success in such a short time, founder Alice Taylor has been quick to organise a full schedule of events for 2017 including monthly networking events, free courses, workshops, and even the launch of a YouTube channel. The first social event is sponsored by local firm Farsons and will be held from 6pm on 31st January at The Thirsty Barber in St Julian’s. A warm invitation is extended to attend after work in order to network with other individuals and enjoy a drink or two in a relaxed and informal setting.

February will see the release of the course and lecture schedule, all of which will be held at the Kunsill Nazzjonali taz-Zghazagh office in Floriana. MYP will be welcoming guest speakers from the legal, financial and corporate, recruitment, psychology, health, and creative sectors who will all be offering their expertise on a pro bono basis.

“2017 looks to be an exciting year for us,” Ms Taylor commented. “We are very much looking forward to sharing our ideas and values with the business community while promoting the importance of groups such as these. Today’s young professionals are tomorrows CEOs, business owners and leading political figures, and nurturing and expanding your circle of contacts is an integral part of a successful professional future.”

Malta Young Professionals aim is to bring the young business society closer together by following international examples where these kinds of social events are the norm. These types of organised groups and platforms give young professionals and entrepreneurs an opportunity to gain a strong foothold in the community that they might have previously taken years of work. The group has no restrictions on membership apart from willingness to learn, network and meet new people.
