Napoli beat AC Milan and join Roma in 2nd place

-

Early goals from Insigne and Callejon paved the way for Napoli to beat AC Milan 2-1 at the San Siro yesterday evening.

In a fiery start, it was Insigne who shot Napoli ahead in the sixth minute and Callejon added another three minutes later to make it look worse for the home side.

Milan tried to get back in contention, but it was Napoli who again went close to a third goal, first through Mertens and later through Callejon.

But Milan finally found the net through Kucka on the 37th minute to make it 2-1.

Early in the second half, Milan went close to scoring an equaliser through Pasalic who hit the bar with a header.

Milan attacked incessantly in search of an equaliser, but Napoli were also dangerous in their counterattacks with Mertens missing an easy chance after a Hamsik coun- terattack.

The three points enabled Napoli to join Roma in second place on 44 points, one behind Juventus. But they have played 21 games to the 20 of Juventus and Roma who will be playing today. AC Milan remain fifth on 37 points.

Also yesterday, Fiorentina scored a very satisfying 3-0 away win against ChievoVerona.

Christian Herrera opened the scoring for the Viola on the 18th minute and Babacar scored a second soon after the start of the second half.

Chievo missed some good chances, but Fiorentina were not to be denied as Federico Chiesa scored a third goal on the 90th minute.

The three points enabled Fiorentina to join Inter Milan on the 36 point mark, but the nerazzurri have today’s match against Palermo in hand.
