Banif shows support for Żejtun Scouts

-

Banif Bank has made a modest donation to the Żejtun Scout Group, which form part of The Scout Association of Malta, to go towards the celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of its founding, as part of its support to nurture and encourage personal growth among youngsters. The donation was presented during a district rally in Żejtun, which brought together scout groups from the South District, one of the four districts which encompass all of Malta and Gozo’s scout groups.

The Żejtun Scout Group is one of the oldest in Malta, founded in 1917, which has over 100 members. The group mentors boys and young men aged between five and 26. It also provides structure for those who want to give back to the community by becoming leaders themselves.

The Żejtun Scout Group Leader Jesmond Ferriggi said: “Times have changed, but the values that the Scout Movement espouses have not. We try to help youngsters develop and grow, and we are thankful to have the support of Banif Bank in doing so.” This holds true especially this year as the group will be living the World Organisation of the Scout Movement’s claim of “creating a better world” by donating proceeds from their centenary celebrations to the Richmond Foundation.

He concluded: “Without leadership skills and the flair for initiative, young people can often find themselves lost in today’s modern world. We hope to instil these skills at a young age, so our members can grow to become good and strong individuals when they graduate to the adult world.”

Banif believes in the power of informal education and the good work of the Scout Movement − an excellent foundation for developing and encouraging personal growth among young men and women – the leaders of our future.
