€15,000 in cash and gold stolen from Cospicua parish church
Cash and gold items worth around €15,000 were stolen from Cospicua parish church on Friday night.
The theft was discovered yesterday morning when a priest and the sacristan arrived at the church just after 6.30am to prepare for the Mass.
It is believed that the thieves made use of scaffolding just outside the church to break into the building.
Donation boxes were broken open and emptied of the money inside them, and various gold objects in the church were removed.
The police are investigating and a magisterial inquiry is underway.
